Bell Pepper Box

We now have a 4th box in our garden made from the scraps of the 3rd. It was just the right size to put our bell peppers in and it kind of completes that side of the yard with the other boxes. Next step is to build a shade for them before summer arrives.

Composter

UPDATE 06/25/10: Don’t buy this composter. It broke within 2 weeks. Luckily home depot takes anything back if you have a receipt… Back to the chicken wire composter!

We tried the compost pile, but found the dog loved to get in there and stink up our house. We found this composter at Home Depot and it seems to work great. We’ll let you know how the compost turns out.

The beginings of an almond

Here is a great closeup of a young almond. All the flowers are falling off of the tree and these little fuzzy white buds are popping up all over.

Our apple tree

Our apple tree is starting to bud. The flowers are falling off and you can see these fat little buds starting to form! Hopefully we get some apples this season.

Topsy Turvy’s in Arizona

We decided to invest in a few topsy-turvy’s. Why not, they’re only $10 or less depending on where you find them. The frame we built was about $10 worth of wood. We have a few tomato’s and strawberries so far. We’ll post some more pics as they grow.

So fat the strawberries are doing really well. Here’s a picture from 03/21/10

Blueberries and Raspberries in AZ

http://www.flickr.com/photos/48274405@N06/4420720915/We decided to try Blueberries and Raspberries here in Arizona even though the odds of these doing well are slim. These were planted in February 2010 and so far they seem to be growing well. Hopefully it will make it through the summer and produce some fruit. We’ll keep you posted!
